The UFO capital of Australia

UFO capital of Australia ?

UFO capital of Australia ?

Every business needs a gimmick, a selling point, and the owners of a Northern Territory roadhouse have got a bit of extraterrestial help.
After seeing strange lights in the sky the owner decided to proclaim Wycliffe Well the “UFO capital of Australia”, and the place is decorated with alien figures everywhere, and UFO news cuttings on the walls. And of course shelves full of UFO t-shirts, stickers, fridge magnets, stubby holders, etc. Yes, I bought another stubby holder…..

Jumping crocodiles

Jumping crocodile, Adelaide river

I went for a cruise along the Adelaide River, on the way to Kakadu, one of several in the area that have “wild’ crocodiles leaping to be fed and took a few pics. They may be wild, but as soon as they heard the boat coming they slid into the water and came over for a feed, so they certainly associate the engine noise with an easy meal. I hope they can tell the difference between a large boat and a small tinny, because they are larger than some of the tinnys people were using for fishing from !

Wangi Falls, Litchfield National Park

This would have been a lovely swimming hole on a hot day…except for the saltwater crocodile that had been sighted here !

A large “saltie” was seen there the day before, so there was no swimming to be done here and I had to drive back to another waterhole for a much needed swim.

“Fire Manipulator”

I’ve seen a few people twirling fire sticks, but this guy at the Mindil Beach Sunset Markets would have to be the best :

I tried experimenting with lots of different shutter speeds, ISOs, even multiple exposures, but this first shot was the best, I think.
