Tropical Garden Bungalows is at the edge of the Tonsai town area, close to the steps up to the Viewpoint, so it is a fair walk from the pier and nightlife area….the latter may be a good thing if you want to sleep at night ! We had a fan bungalow but air-con rooms are also available. Bungalows come with a nice verandah area, complete with hammock to chill out in.
Fan bungalows only have cold water showers but the water is not that cold. Our bungalow did not have any hooks for hanging towels or clothes 😦
The place has a small restaurant, typical menu with a mix of thai style western food and westernised thai food. Like every other place they sell ferry tickets and book tours too.
In evenings they have a small laidback bar, with a cool “cowboy” barman/manager, if you don’t want to go downtown and listen to doof-doof “music’.

How much ? from 800 baht and upwards for fan bungalow, which seemed to be about standard for that area.
Agoda and TripAdvisor have mixed reviews about the place but I had no complaints (except hooks would have been nice!) Some people complain about insects etc, who have obviously never been to the tropics before and expect western style buildings for next to nothing. Folks, if you book a bamboo bungalow do not complain if a bug gets in the room !
Would I stay again ? Yes. 7/10
