The end is in sight

So many places to see, so little time….
I realised the other day that the end of this trip is drawing closer, and that there is still a lot of places that I wanted to visit but will probably have to miss. My next definite scheduled stop is at Birdsville, for the booze-up horse races on the first weekend of September, which is only about 7 weeks away. I had originally planned to go down to The Centre, after all whats a trip around Oz without seeing Uluru, LOL. Actually, I can go without visiting Uluru as I’ve been before, but there are other places I missed out on before, ie Chamber’s Pillar and Palm Valley, that I would like to see. The original plan was to head south then double back and across to North Queensland via the Savannah Way and then down the Queensland coast and back inland to Birdsville.
I don’t think I am going to have time for that though, unless I put in a lot more driving hours than I usually do !
After Birdsville I will have to start heading back towards Sydney, as I want to be there by late September. That would give me 2 weeks to sell my ute and tidy up any loose ends before I fly over to my new life in Bangkok. The flight is already booked for October 12, I’ve used up my frequent flyer miles for a business class ticket. The extra baggage allowance (40kg) will come in handy for all my camera gear !
