200 days…..

routemap10august
Yet another milestone ticked over…200 days on the road, only another 40 or so to go, and I’m beginning to think they cannot come quick enough. Although there is still an awful lot of this country to see, 200 days living out of a bag, sleeping mainly in a swag, is enough for me ….or at least that is how I feel at the moment. After a few days on the beach perhaps I will be feeling recharged, or perhaps feeling even less like travelling on. Sometimes I really wish I had bought a caravan or campervan for the extra comfort, but then I think back to the places I would have missed out on.
Some statistics :
39000 kms driven, using 4200 litres of fuel ($6700 worth),$3200 in food,$2350 in accommodation, and $3600 in repairs and replacements, but a good part of that was for new tyres which I knew would be needed, whether I was on this trip or not. The average cost per day has gone up to $91, mainly due to those new tyres, the much higher fuel costs up north and the sheer number of kilometres driven up there.
At least I’ve had no major mechanical problems (fingers crossed) unlike Richard and Sophie in their drive from Sydney to Britain through Africa (bad luck guys, but a bit of good luck there with the parts though ?)
There’s no mobile phone or internet reception here at Cape Tribulation, and PK’s resort WiFi is rather expensive, so that’s all for now folks …..back to the hammock.
