When I was in Singapore recently I stayed in “Little India”, and by good luck timed it to coincide with the Thaipusam Festival which was held nearby.
Hindu devotees make a pilgrimage from one temple to another about 4 kms away, many with some rather bizarre and seemingly masochistic body piercings, even to the point of pulling chariots behind them, attached to hooks in their back.
Apparently they prepare for this with a month of prayers, sleeping on a hard floor, abstaining from sex, and a vegetarian diet !
Kids, don’t try this at home !

Just a couple of photos from the Muay Thai fights at MBK the other night:

This was the first time I’ve taken my camera down to the MBK fights this season, and was happy to see that they have improved the lighting this year ! I could keep a reasonably fast shutter speed without having to turn the ISO up to ridiculous levels.![]()

Sawadee ka ……
Some photos from the recent Bangkok Auto Expo :
Compared to last year’s event the Auto Expo seemed to have fewer displays and stands, as last year the hall was full and crowded, with many of the aftermarket retailers outside the main hall. This year they were inside but there was still plenty of space between stands.
That may have been because of the economic conditions, but there were still some expensive cars on show :

Drool, drool ……
As well as some vintage and veteran vehicles :
I never knew that BMW once made 3 wheelers !
There was also a collection of small electric vehicles and bikes :

And of course the usual collection of “pretties” decorating the stands :
Took this shot recently, been playing around with Photoshop to convert to black and white, added a curves layer with mask for selective contrast, and a bit of texture to the background.
