Sun Pictures is an open air cinema in Broome, which claims to be the oldest operating “Picture Gardens” in the world, in operation for over 90 years.
Inside the building you can see old equipment from the time of silent movies, old posters and a couple of rickshaws.
The seats are deckchairs, and you can either sit at the back under cover, or under the stars nearer the screen. A very pleasant evening was had watching the Great Gatsby, spoilt only by the planes flying low overhead …it is right under the final approach path of the jets coming in to land at the airport only a couple of hundred metres away ! They did kind of spoil the “trip back in time’ ambiance !
